The Canada and U.S. rail link will be the focal point of the mega-merger and will be the first rail link to interconnect the two countries and strengthen intermodal transportation. The companies announced Sunday morning that CP will seek to acquire KCS in a deal worth $29 billion and is still pending Surface Transportation Board approval.
This merger links six of the seven largest metropolitan regions in North America, which will help reduce transit times and provide new products and benefits.
However, there is a fear that merging the two companies will result in line-cutting relationships, but the idea of this function is to grow the companies, new business, and project opportunities for new lanes and active changes.
