In the last month the port had the opportunity to move more than 900,000 containers, which has become a new record in its 110-year history.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the best records set in the month since its total movement equaled 907,216 TEUs, breaking the previous record set in March of this year. The growth in the amount of twenty-foot unit (TEU) throughput has grown gradually due to consumer demand and the number of people who have returned to work.
In addition, in its press release, the port assures that this record has been relevant due to the historical increase of cargo that began in July 2020 where e-commerce sales rose due to the COVID-19 pandemic, where even though this demand continues to grow, a very good recovery is seen by the port to move and expedite terminal cargoes.
